I have decided to take the vet tech examination. In Georgia, there is a grandfather clause that says that if you have worked in the field for five years or more, you are eligible to take the test without attending school. As more and more vet clinics are moving toward hiring only licensed techs, it might be beneficial for me to go ahead and get licensed. It's not that I plan to leave my clinic, but you never know. Plus, I also don't plan on being a vet tech, I want to be a vet, but it would be nice to have a fall back if vet school doesn't work out. My biggest problem is finding the time to study (and the funds with which to buy the study materials). June is the last test that I will be allowed to take, so I don't have a ton of time to get prepared. I know a lot of the technical stuff already just because I have been doing it for so long, but I am a bit rusty on some of the more obscure anatomy and drug type questions. Basically, if I don't deal with it frequently, I just don't know the information.

As usual school is on the brink of killing me. Three sciences in one semester is stupid people, really stupid. Don't do it. Plus, I am having to deal with rush hour traffic on Wednesdays, which is making my life a living hell. I sympathize greatly with anyone who deals with it daily. I think I would have gone on some murderous rampage by now.

Now that summer is gone, I am really missing my reading time. I miss the escape I find when reading a good book; you know, one of those books that you just can't put down. I have one that sits in my book bag and taunts me as I furiously try and study chemistry, or biology, or the dreaded physics. At least the semester is already a quarter of the way over, but it's still not quite over enough. I want my summer vacation back.

Go for girl. I wish Indiana had such a grandfather law, but alas we don't =(
It gives you some thing to fall back on as you say if it doesn't work out in vet school, or if you don't get in first time. We know it's harder than hell to get in!

Yeah, those were my thoughts exactly. Plus, if I don't pass, it's really not such a big deal since it's not my main goal anyway. It would just be something really nice to have as a fall back. Plus, it would allow me the freedom to work at any vet hospital without having to worry about whether they want only licensed techs or not.

And that would be why I flunked out of my first try at university. 3 sciences was the *light* load.

Yeah, if that was your light load, I don't know how you survived the semester. This is my second semester taking the three sciences route, and it's just crazy. It's worth it to me so that I'm not taking classes that I don't need, but it definitely affects my grades since I am stubborn and refuse to give up all of my free time.

Oh, and by the way, this is extremely late, and I apologize profusely, but I wanted to thank you for the postcard. It brightened my day and was very very cute. :D

Yeah, I have a bad habit of choosing courses with extremely hard course loads, and then dropping out because I'm dying of the stress. Taking biology was bad enough, but when I was taking computers I had 4 sciences, where we were learning 8 different languages, and a math.

I'm thinking of trying a nice general arts degree next. They say third times the charm right?

Good luck with the exam hon. 3 sciences? Sounds scary. I'm glad I went to an art school and didn't have to take anything but Earth Science.

Art school sounds so much better at the moment ;) 3 sciences is definitely crazy, but it's either that or take a bunch of classes I don't really need and end up having to stay an extra semester.

I envy you and your artistic talent. I dabble a lot in the drawing/painting section, but nothing so good as I could make a career of it.
